The company that makes the game has trademarked the word “candy” for use in games and clothing, and is now asking other companies to remove their games from mobile app stores because their titles contain the word “candy.” Candy Crush Saga was created by a Swedish company called King. It is one of the biggest mobile games ever, earning King an estimated $850,000 per day. King has filed to go public in the United States, but recently delayed those plans. The company may be looking at buyout offers instead. Another European gaming giant called SuperCell recently sold a 51% stake to Japan’s Softbank for $1.5 billion. |
