Leap Wireless’ Cricket prepaid operations scored another LTE smartphone with the HTC One SV, scheduled to go on sale Jan. 16 for $350. HTC’s latest flagship phone joins the Samsung Galaxy S III at Cricket, meaning more choice for consumers who want LTE without a contract. Google’s Nexus 4, expected to show up at T-Mobile USA soon, is also an LTE phone that can be purchased without a contract.
For now Cricket will be the exclusive carrier for the HTC One SV. The smartphone runs Android 4.0 on a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. It sports a 4.3-inch display, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera and NFC capability, meaning that users can share content by other NFC-enabled phones by tapping the phones. NFC chips can also enable content sharing between smartphones and connected TV sets.
The HTC One SV supports memory cards up to 32 gigabytes in size, and if that’s not enough users can take advantage of the phone’s integration with Dropbox. Like its predecessors from HTC, the One SV features Beats Audio.
Cricket’s pricing plans for the new phone range from $50 per month to $70/ per month. The $50 3G plan includes unlimited talk and text plus up to 1 GB of full-speed data per month. For $70 per month, users get LTE speeds and up to 10 GB of full-speed data.
