BYOD pushes deployment of mobile device management

With the proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace, IT teams need to set policies to address employees’ use of personal smartphones, tablets and computers as corporate devices. The increasing bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend is boosting the market for mobile device management (MDM) tools.

As more CIOs seek MDM solutions, vendors are building portfolios to respond. One of Apple’s partners for the corporate segment, Scopus Tecnologia, has started adding services on top of its product offers, instead of acting only as a reseller of iPads and laptops for enterprises.

Mauro Cremm, the company’s executive superintendent, explained that by offering MDM tools, the company can add value for its clients. “The BYOD trend is large, so companies need to know how to manage it,” said Cremm.

As a result, Scopus closed the period that ended in August with 30% growth compared to the same period of 2011, with strong participation from the telecommunications sector. “We closed big projects with the main carriers in Brazil,” said Cremm.
