OCDA creates workgroup focused on big data, content management solutions

The Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) announced the formation of a new data services workgroup that will focus on accelerating solutions for enterprise big data and content management. ODCA is an independent IT consortium comprised of global IT providers.

Enterprise data use is forecast to increase by 6.7 times during the next 5 years. The workgroup will focus initially on documenting usage model requirements in order to increase the ability of enterprise IT to to securely collect, manage and analyze data in near real-time. Improving interoperability among the big data frameworks and traditional business intelligence solutions is a major objective of the workgroup.

The workgroup said it will create usage models, targeted for release in the second half of 2012, to define requirements that address security, manageability and interoperability of emerging big data frameworks with traditional data management and data warehouse solutions.
