Twitter announced through a PR tweet that Satya Patel will join Twitter as director of product management. Satya will be stepping down as partner for Battery but will remain a venture partner. Satya’s prior experience includes a decade in online media and software, both in operating and investing roles. Satya spent several years at Google, most recently as Senior Product Manager for AdSense.
Communication engineer Arthur W. Astrin, whose innovations and efforts contributed to the birth and development of the Wi-Fi industry, is the 2011 recipient of the IEEE Computer Society’s Hans Karlsson Standards Award. The award recognizes outstanding skills and dedication to diplomacy, team facilitation, and joint achievement, in the development or promotion of standards in the computer industry where individual aspirations, corporate competition, and organizational rivalry could otherwise be counter to the benefit of society.
