Telcordia expands its Business and Solutions Development center for the Communications Sector in the CALA region

ORLANDO, Fla., March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — CTIA WIRELESS 2011 — Telcordia (Booth 2407), a global leader in the development of mobile, broadband and enterprise software and services, today announces the expansion of its investment in Brazil and the CALA region to help communications service providers (CSPs) capture the rapid growth in mobile broadband and the predicted growth of new facilities-based and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).

Industry analysis of the communications sector predicts that within the next five years Brazil, Chile, Mexico and other major Latin American countries will be a key growth market for mobile broadband and an emerging market for a new breed of MVNOs.

Service providers looking to expand with mobile broadband service offers are seeing challenges in monetizing complex broadband service offers.  To meet these challenges, service providers require flexible, service-centric, personalized policy and charging solutions.  The mobile broadband ecosystem brings with it far greater competition for services. Service providers will need to be able to introduce services more quickly and with greater differentiation to support their business growth and profitability.

In addition, perceived regulatory obstacles and lack of co-operation present some problems for those MVNOs who have registered interest in the region.  To aid progress, MVNOs entering this market will rapidly need to develop outstanding services and pricing strategies to attract new customers.

Finding an innovative solution to capture new subscribers and meet the demands for quality of experience will be a great challenge. Telcordia understands the Latin American mobile market and knows that flexibility and customer experience will drive its future success. Correspondingly, Telcordia’s decision to expand its presence in CALA with a Development Center in Brazil is timed to help new market entrants, MVNOs in particular, to get it right the first time.

“Telcordia is committed to the region and the satisfaction of our local clients, who are looking for more innovative ways to gain traction in this hyper-competitive market with high quality and cost-effective service for a timely delivery of critical operating software,” said Luis Castillejos, Regional Vice President, Service Delivery Solutions, CALA, Telcordia.  “Our expanded presence, the local resources combined with our focus in Latin America, will enable Telcordia to best serve the increasing demands of new players looking to partner with a company like Telcordia that is known for getting it right the first time and for having the technological expertise to fully understand the situation, respond appropriately, and deliver as promised.”

Clearly, to capture these markets CSPs must have an edge on the competition. The Telcordia Service Delivery & Charging solution already assists CSPs and MVNOs in North America, Europe and Asia to rapidly bring-to-market personalized, interactive offerings that deliver the experience that customers demand. Telcordia products are designed to be deployed in all networks: Mobile Voice, Mobile Broadband, Cable, or Fixed and support service creation, delivery and charging for all payment methods, including pre-, post- and mixed offers, enabling delivery of scalable, carrier-grade, SOA-ready applications.

With the expansion of Telcordia in CALA with its Development Center new and existing customers in the region, such as Oi, Telefonica Group, Telmex, Axtel, CANTV and Nextel Mexico, can now have first-hand experience of Telcordia’s newest convergent solutions in one central showroom including Converged Revenue Management, Real-Time Charging with Policy based Bandwidth Management solutions.
