DirecTV Latin America (DTVLA) saw strong subscriber growth in Brazil during 2010, DirecTV Group president and CEO Michael White said in a conference call with investors.
“Brazil is experiencing tremendous growth. … Brazil’s fourth quarter was, by far, the best ever. Its gross adds were more than double the level of a year ago and nearly 40% higher than what we saw in the second quarter when we were running up to the World Cup,” White said. “These results fueled a full-year increase of 75% to about 1mn gross adds in Brazil last year.”
DTVLA also saw solid annual growth in several other countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Mexico, he added.
