The Brazilian unit of satellite and services providerHughes Network Systems (Nasdaq: HUGH),Hughes do Brasil, is looking at potentially expanding services to the Southern Cone, given the boom it is seeing in the Brazilian market for backhaul, Rafael Guimaraes, Hughes do Brasil’s marketing director, told BNamericas.
According to the executive, the countries in mind are Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.
“We are starting to look at other countries in the southern part of the continent. We are trying to understand those markets and are not sure yet that the opportunities we find in Brazil will be the same in other countries,” Guimaraes said.
