Nokia set to lose another executive

The executive shuffle continued at Nokia Corp. (NOK) today as the world’s largest mobile handset maker said Anssi Vanjoki, EVP and a member of Nokia Group’s executive board as well as head of Nokia’s Mobile Solutions unit, will resign from the company.
The news comes days after Nokia said current CEO and President Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo will leave the company on Sept. 20 and be replaced by current Microsoft Corp. executive Stephen Elop.
As part of his resignation, Vanjoki will remain at Nokia for up to six months in his current position before leaving the company.
“I felt the time has come to seek new opportunities in my life,” Vanjoki said in a statement from Nokia. “At the same time, I am 100% committed to doing my best for Nokia until my very last working day. I am also really looking forward to this year’s Nokia World and sharing news about exciting new devices and solutions.”
The Nokia World event is scheduled to begin tomorrow, with the handset giant expected to unveil its latest smart phones. One of those devices expected to be shown is the N8, which is powered by Nokia’s latest Symbian 3 operating system.
Vanjoki joined Nokia in 1991 as VP of sales for the company’s mobile phone division before working his way up the ranks. Prior to joining Nokia, Vanjoki was at 3M Corp.
