MobiTV Inc. has reached its latest milestone, surpassing 6 million customers on its managed mobile media service. Indeed the company is moving quite quickly; MobiTV reached the 4 million customer mark in August, meaning 2 million more users signed on in just six months. MobiTV, which brings live television to mobile devices, credited the customer increase to highly anticipated television events.
“We’re seeing growth driven by major television events, from the Olympics to Election Day. Additionally, the proliferation of 3G smartphones and media-centric devices is enabling the very high- quality mobile TV experience that consumers expect,” said Paul Scanlan, president and co-founder of MobiTV.
MobiTV is available on 350 different handsets across 20 different carriers including big names such as AT&T Mobility and Alltel Communications L.L.C, the company said in a press release. The provider broadcasts shows from NBC, ABC, ESPN, Disney, CNBC, MSNBC and more than 40 different channels of content. Further, MobiTV recently nabbed a deal with CBS to broadcast some of the station’s popular shows.
