Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Redline, Aruba, ERF and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
WiMAX
–India: Redline Communications Group said it signed a deal with Sify Technologies to deploy a multicity WiMAX network in the country.
Wi-Fi
–Malaysia: The International Islamic University Malaysia has chosen Aruba Networks adaptive wireless local area network solutions for deployment throughout its Gombak and Kuatan campuses.
Miscellaneous
–Australia: Optus signed an agreement with Harris Stratex Networks to deliver digital microwave transmission services for backhaul as the carrier expands its 3G network.
–United States: Louisiana-based Fidelity Homestead Bank and Texas-based Classic Bank have contracted with ERF Wireless to provide wireless broadband service to rural communities in both states. The contracts call for the use of each bank’s excess wireless bandwidth and wireless infrastructure to provide wireless Internet Service Provider products and services to the banks’ commercial and retail customers. ERF will operate and support the networks. Also in the United States, BelAir Networks announced two contracts for its wireless video monitoring technology. The city of Temple, Ga., has deployed the company’s next-generation wireless video surveillance system and public safety network, which will serve as a testbed for advanced public safety applications and services. Washington, Ga., chose a video surveillance system provided by Mastech Enterprises that uses BelAir’s fixed and mobile wireless networking nodes.
