AdMob launched an iPhone-specific “advertising marketplace” to deliver marketing campaigns through the high-profile device.
The San Mateo, Calif.-based startup announced deals with advertisers including Ford Motor Co., Electronic Arts, Land Rover and Jaguar to place ads online and in native applications built for Apple Inc.’s popular device. The interactive ads are designed to integrate some of the iPhone’s features: As this video clip illustrates, advertisers can give potential customers one-click access to other applications, allowing them to find a nearby retailer or view movie trailers on the device.
The company also vowed to give $1 million worth of advertising to developers to promote their iPhone applications and services.
“This new class of device, led by the iPhone, is pivotal to the future of mobile browsing and of mobile media business models,” said AdMob CEO Omar Hamoui. “We are excited to leverage our platform to take advantage of the uniquely mobile connected experiences that the iPhone makes possible.”
