Aptilo Networks announced it is acquiring Airpath Wireless Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Aptilo said the acquisition would double its presence and revenue stream in the United States by expanding its position as a provider of integrated solutions for WiMAX, metro Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot installations.
Airpath Wireless provides managed service solutions for operators, service providers and systems integrators as they deploy and manage broadband wireless networks for municipalities and large organizations. Aptilo predicts that demand for managed service or software-as-a-service will triple by 2011.
“There is tremendous opportunity for integrated broadband wireless solutions. We expect the Wi-Fi/WiMAX market will experience significant growth, fueled by an increasing number of devices with built-in Wi-Fi/WiMAX technology,” said Torbjorn Ward, CEO of Aptilo Networks. “This acquisition strengthens Aptilo’s proven, feature-rich managed service offerings in North America, positioning us well to lead the market with unique solutions, unparalleled functionality and exceptional service.”
As part of the deal, Aptilo and Airpath plan to merge their operations, staff and customer base.
