Helio L.L.C., which has made a point of maintaining its handset pricing, is offering a limited-time, online-only promotion with at least $50 off each of the three currently available handsets.
The discounts include $50 off the dual-slider Pantech Corp. Ocean handset, reducing its price from $295 to $245; $100 off of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.’s Fin, cutting in half its normal $200 price tag; and $50 off of the Samsung Heat that sells regularly for $100. The prices are only available on purchases made through the company’s Web site through Nov. 13.
Helio recently reported its subscriber base had reached 140,000 and that it received a fresh commitment of $270 million in funds from co-parent SK Telecom, which is taking over the funding of the company and renegotiating the mobile virtual network operator’s ownership terms with co-parent EarthLink Inc.
