Carissa’s story
Virgin Mobile USA is helping to fight youth homelessness by supporting a documentary about a young girl who was abandoned by her mother. The film follows the story of Carissa Phelps and her life on the street from age 12 to 14 as well as her success in college at UCLA. The efforts are part of Virgin Mobile’s RE*Generation program. The company said it will offer advance previews of clips from the film at its RE*Generation Art Gallery Auction and Benefit later this year in New York. Virgin Mobile said it was active in convincing Congress to designate November as National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.
