I-play goes all in on mobile video

I-play will continue to move beyond mobile gaming this week with a series of more than 100 video shorts for poker players.
The U.K.-based publisher plans to launch Win at Texas Hold ‘Em, a series of two- to three-minute clips from professional card player Daniel Negreanu. The clips are available on the decks of AT&T Mobility and Sprint Nextel Corp.; I-play said the offering will be distributed through other North American carriers in the next few months.
“The mobile video signals a groundbreaking new product and an industry first, offering bite-sized chunks of entertainment to develop the Texas Hold ‘Em aficionado in us all,” I-play said.
The content is offered by the clip as well as via streaming video, which is delivered through I-play’s proprietary mobile video application. The offering was shot at the Venetian Hotel & Resort in Las Vegas and includes special video blogs from Negreanu.
A longtime independent on the pure-play mobile gaming field, I-play earlier this year expanded its portfolio by teaming with Universal Studios to offer clips from classic movies such as King Kong, Animal House and The Breakfast Club. The company was picked up in May by cross-platform gamemaker Oberon Media in a deal rumored to be worth more than $100 million.
