LONDON—U.K.-based content provider Mobile Streams is hoping to expand its business across the English Channel with the $3.7 million acquisition of Cyoshi Mobile GmbH.
German-based Cyoshi produces and distributes mobile video and other content across Europe. The company’s portfolio of licensed offerings includes FunkySexyCool, which allows users to chat, create video profiles and exchange photos, and cartoon shows such as “Suicidal Squirrels” and “Joe Cartoon.”
Mobile Streams said it will pay $2.5 million in cash for Cyoshi; the balance to be paid in stock.
“This complementary acquisition accelerates our strategy in several important ways,” said Simon Buckingham, Mobile Streams’ chief executive officer. “It extends our operator distribution footprint from the U.K. across both continental and Eastern Europe while also accelerating our content strategy by adding compelling licensed content.”
