Advantech AMT buys Allgon microwave unit from Powerwave

MONTREAL-Satellite and terrestrial wireless equipment manufacturer Advantech AMT has acquired Powerwave Technologies Inc.’ microwave operation in Gothenberg, Sweden.

Advantech said it would resurrect the Allgon Microwave brand, which it used prior to joining the Powerwave group. Advantech said Allgon Microwave is well known for its high reliability, low-to-medium capacity microwave radios, spanning 7 GHz to 36 GHz and 8 to 36 megabits.

Advantech said the wholly owned group will be incorporated as AdvantechAMT AB.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Powerwave earlier this month finalized its acquisition of Remec Inc.’s wireless assets.
