MobiTV

Andy Missan has joined MobiTV as vice president and general counsel. Missan will oversee legal affairs and general corporate matters at the company. Missan brings more than 17 years of legal experience to MobiTV, most recently as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Danger Inc. Prior to that he was vice president and general counsel at Replay TV.

Marconi

Marconi Corp. plc appointed Joseph Ferrara chief executive officer of its North American division, succeeding Geoffrey Doy, who will remain chairman of the division. Ferrara will oversee the company’s Pittsburgh-based Data Networks group, as well as its Dallas-based Wireless group. He also will join the company’s executive committee. Ferrara previously was vice president of business operations and vice president of marketing for Marconi’s Data Networks group. Prior to joining Marconi, Ferrara held senior-level positions at Startec Global Communications and MCI Inc.

Motorola

Motorola hired Dr. John D. Waclawsky as its software architect, where he will focus on coherent software development across the company’s product lines. Most recently Waclawsky was technical leader for the mobile wireless group at Cisco Systems Inc. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at IBM Corp. in technical and management positions.

Alliance

Alliance Corp. made two additions to its wireless infrastructure team. The company named Gina Stuck and Therese O’Brien directors of business development for the wireless infrastructure unit based in Baltimore.

Leap

Leap Wireless International Inc. appointed Dave Truzinski vice president and chief information officer. He will be responsible for information technology support operations including computer operations, telecommunications, networking, messaging, security, systems architecture and database management. Truzinski previously held leadership positions at Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless Services Inc. Before that he was chief technology officer at ClickConnect Inc. Leap also announced it appointed Fernando Corona vice president of channel development where he will be responsible for expansion into new sales channels. Most recently Corona was president and chief executive officer of V-Enable Inc. Prior to that he was a senior vice president at PacketVideo.

FAME

Dr. Dan Steinbock has joined the faculty of the Forum to Advance the Mobile Experience. The group was formed earlier this year by a large group of chief marketing executives in the technology, communications and digital media sectors. Steinbock, who wrote “The Nokia Revolution” and “The Mobile Revolution,” will serve as faculty spokesman for FAME.

Connexion by Boeing

Lianne Stein has joined Connexion by Boeing as vice president of the company’s commercial aviation business, succeeding Stan Deal, who joined Boeing Commercial Airplanes as vice president of sales and marketing operations. Stein previously was vice president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes for Washington D.C. operations.

Digicel

Caribbean mobile telecom company Digicel Group named Stephen Brewer chief executive officer of Digicel Trinidad & Tobago effective in November. Brewer previously served as CEO of Vodafone in Ireland and oversaw its transition from a standalone national company to part of the Vodafone Group. He also has held senior positions at France Telecom Mobile, O2, Vodafone U.K. and Cable & Wireless Caribbean.

Ericsson

Ericsson North America named Brian Rosenberg senior vice president of enterprise and new sales with responsibility for expanding the company’s enterprise business in North America. Rosenberg has been with Ericsson for 10 years, holding strategic account management and business development positions. Rosenberg named Mehmet Balos vice president of Ericsson’s enterprise channel sales and business development. Balos most recently was vice president of global marketing and corporate communications with 3Com.

Azimuth

Jeff Abramowitz has joined Azimuth Systems Inc. as vice president of marketing. He joins the company from Broadcom, where he led the company’s Wi-Fi marketing efforts. Abramowitz also has held positions with Intersil, No Wires Needed and 3Com, and he founded the Wireless LAN Association in 1996 and served as its first president.
