DALLAS-Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is using Texas Instruments’ OMAP multimedia processor chip in its mobile TV phones. Samsung is currently selling phones in South Korea that work on the Digital Multimedia Broadcasting mobile TV technology.

TU Media, a business of wireless carrier SK Telecom, recently launched DMB services in Korea. According to reports, 20,000 subscribers have already signed up for the service.
TI also has announced a mobile TV chip dubbed “Hollywood.” The chip uses TI’s digital RF processor technology and combines a tuner, OFDM demodulator and channel decoder processor. TI has not yet announced any customers for its Hollywood chip.
