CANNES, France-VeriSign Inc. teamed with IBM and Gemplus International S.A. to demonstrate a Subscriber Identity Module-based identity offering for wireless carriers at the 3GSM World Congress Tuesday.
The product combines over-the-air activation service from Gemplus with VeriSign’s password authentication service and IBM’s Federated Identity Manager, which provides single sign-on to the operator portal. The companies said they hope the offering improves user confidence in mobile transactions and streamlines the user experience with single sign-on access to mobile portals.
The product is expected to be fully tested by the second half of 2005.
