New mobile game simulates Fox TV show

REDMOND, Wash.-Online game publisher WildTangent Tuesday announced the release of “24: Countdown,” a mobile title based on the hit TV show “24.”

The game, which gives players a simulated 24 hours to foil a terrorist plot to blow up Las Vegas, is co-sponsored by LG Mobile Phones.

The Fox Broadcasting Co. show that stars Kiefer Sutherland is also the subject of a series of one-minute videos being created exclusively for mobile phones. The free mini-dramas will initially be launched for Vodafone U.K. subscribers in January.

In other gaming news:

  • Mobile publisher In-Fusio launched two new games: “Terminator: I’m Back,” based on the popular movie franchise, and “Zoo Tycoon 2 Mobile,” which is based on the popular Microsoft game for PCs. The titles are being released through 40 carriers and portals for BREW- and Java-enabled handsets.

     

  • Jamdat Mobile Inc. announced its latest title, Jamdat Pool, which allows gamers to play traditional eight- and nine-ball games on their handsets. The game is offered through multiple U.S. carriers and a variety of handsets.
