Litigation ends among vendors in two separate suits

DALLAS-Two victors, two vanquished.

Broadcom Inc. agreed to take a charge of $27.5 million in settling all outstanding litigation with Agere Systems Inc. In another development, The Delaware Court of Chancery rejected for the second time Qualcomm Inc.’s claims that Texas Instruments Inc. breached both companies’ cross-licensing agreement.

“The companies agreed to dismiss all outstanding claims and counterclaims in the litigation with prejudice, and entered into reciprocal releases covering all asserted and unasserted patent-related claims against the other party and its affiliates,” said both Broadcom and Agere.

The Qualcomm-TI ruling also disposes of “all outstanding claims before the court…” according to TI.

“We are grateful for the court’s ruling and are pleased to conclude the trial on this note,” said Joseph Hubach, senior vice president and general counsel for TI.<p
