Siemens launches phone that transforms into camera

COPENHAGEN-Siemens AG has unveiled the SF65, a clamshell-style mobile phone that includes a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, four-times zoom, a color display, and a swivel action screen that transforms it from a phone into a digital camera.

The device also comes with enhanced picture-editing capabilities and has an 18-megabyte memory drive. It also features gaming options and polyphonic ring tones.

“We’ve brought the experience of using a digital camera to a mobile phone so that everyone can capture and enjoy moments in better quality, clarity and detail no matter where they are,” said Thorsten Heins, president of the mobile phone division within Siemens mobile. “The SF65 also carries the design signature of Siemens mobile-it’s classic, timeless and irresistible!”

The phone, which comes in a “polar white” high-gloss finish, comes with Siemens accessories, including a headset, charger, spare battery, data cable, car kit and a tour case.

It is scheduled to become available in December in Europe and Asia.
