NORCROSS, Ga.-In preparation for the recent G-8 Summit on Sea Island, Ga., Nextel Communications Inc. reported enhancements to its fixed infrastructure and wireless service in coastal Georgia, which the carrier said more than doubled its coverage in the region. Nextel noted the enhancements would provide lasting benefits to customers in the region, including the areas of Savannah, Ft. Stewart, Kings Base, Brunswick, Statesboro, Glynn County, Chatham County, St, Simons Island and Sea Island.
