Agilent releases micro duplexer for wireless devices

PALO ALTO, Calif.-Agilent Technologies Inc. said it has unveiled a micro-size electronic component known as film bulk resonator duplexer for handsets, data cards and other wireless products.

The company said the product is its smallest ever and can shrink phone sizes and create more room for new features like camera modules, GPS locators and Bluetooth connectivity. In fact, this new product, the ACMD-7401, is 66 percent smaller than Agilent’s first-generation duplexer known as HPMD-7904.

It will operate on the U.S. PCS frequency band.

“This FDAR’s size and performance advantage has already resulted in more than 20 million units shipped, and our new, smaller duplexer builds on the success of our first-generation product,” said Bryan Ingram, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s wireless semiconductor division.
