Verizon Wireless to expand M2M services through Aeris.net

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Verizon Wireless said it will expand its machine-to-machine services through a new deal with Aeris.net. Under the agreement, Verizon will offer Aeris.net’s MicroBurst technology across its digital CDMA network.

“Verizon Wireless is pleased to expand our MicroBurst agreement with Aeris.net,” said Ted Hoffman, vice president of technology development for Verizon Wireless. “Aeris.net’s control channel technology enables us to support machine-to-machine communications without impacting our voice and data customers. MicroBurst complements our strong presence in the wireless data market and provides a cost-effective solution for short packet applications.”

Aeris.net recently launched support for digital wireless networks, as the analog networks its technology primarily uses are scheduled to be shut down in the coming years.
