Ericsson wins $57M China Unicom contract

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson is the second company to announce it was awarded a piece of China Unicom’s cdma2000 1x network expansion. The Swedish vendor said it will expand China Unicom’s network in Jiangsu and Liaoning provinces under its $57 million contract

Deployment in the provinces is currently under way, and the expected commercial launch is in the third quarter.

Last week, Motorola Inc. said it won an $80 million phase three contract with China Unicom.
