DALLAS-Alcatel Corp. said Irish operator Meteor Mobile Communications will use its equipment to deploy mobile number portability functionality across the country.
The technology allows subscribers to maintain the same phone numbers even when they change operators.
“This demonstrates our capability and flexibility to understand our customers’ requirements and provide them with innovative network applications, not only from a technological perspective but also from an overall solution perspective, including cost and operational optimization,” said Tarek Moustafa, Alcatel’s president, Northern Europe.
