STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Ericsson said it will be the sole supplier of equipment and services for a GSM/General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) 800 MHz network in Panama. Cable & Wireless will be the first Panamanian operator to offer GSM services and the first operator outside the United States to offer GSM in the 800 MHz band.
Cable & Wireless is evolving its TDMA network to GSM/GRPS technology.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
