TOKYO-NTT DoCoMo announced that it signed share exchange agreements with eight of its regional subsidiaries. Through the share exchange agreements, NTT DoCoMo will acquire all the outstanding shares of these eight subsidiaries and will make them into wholly owned subsidiaries.
By making wholly owned subsidiaries, NTT DoCoMo hopes to gain more efficient management by speeding up decision-making processes.
With the same goal, two other mobile carriers in Japan, KDDI and J-Phone, have already consolidated their regional companies, making themselves nationwide companies.
