Dingell wins primary

WASHINGTON-Rep. John D. Dingell (D-Mich.), ranking member of the House Commerce Committee and the longest-serving House member defeated Rep. Lynn Rivers (D-Mich.) in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday.

Dingell was forced to meet Rivers in the primary after Michigan’s 15th District was redrawn. Polls showed the race to be very close.

Since the district is heavily Democratic, he is expected to easily win in November.

The Washington Post reported that Dingell tapped resources from the telecommunications industry to secure his win.
