SUNNYVALE, Calif.—Dobson Cellular Systems Inc. placed a follow-on order under a purchasing agreement signed in 2000 for a minimum of 200 wireless systems from Conductus Inc. for its ClearSite superconductor systems.
“In cell sites where we have deployed the ClearSite systems, we have seen up to 43-percent increases in minutes of use, as well as a substantial reduction in dropped calls,” said Timothy Duffy, chief technical officer and senior vice president of network operations and engineering for Dobson. “We are very satisfied with our investment and plan to use the systems from this follow-on order to further deploy the technology in our networks nationwide.”
