ARLINGTON, Va.-TeleCorp PCS Inc. announced an increase in subscriber numbers for the second quarter 2001.

TeleCorp said it added 70,137 net customers in the quarter. Post-pay adds were 108,157, up 3 percent from the first quarter, which off-sets a 38,020 decline in its pre-pay customer base. In all, TeleCorp now services 84 percent post-pay and 16 percent pre-pay customers. The company said post-pay churn was about 2.2 percent for the quarter, and combined churn was 3.4 percent.

“Over the past several quarters, we have focused aggressively on increasing the percentage of post-pay subscribers in our customer base and have successfully fine-tuned our offering to attract these valuable customers,” said Gerald T. Vento, TeleCorp’s chief executive officer. “We remain confident in our ability to meet our financial goals for the second quarter.”
