GOTHENBURG, Sweden-Telematics service provider WirelessCar has established WirelessCar Consulting, a global telematics consulting service designed to provide knowledge, advice and specialized training in all aspects of telematics, the company said.
Thus far, no explicit business model, technology or industry structure has emerged to set a standard in telematics, and Wireless Car Consulting said it will address these issues, as well as help companies understand the telematics value chain and how it fits into their business.
The company also will offer businesses assistance with establishing relationships with third-party providers, technical implementation and deciding on pricing and roll out plans, among other things.
“WirelessCar Consulting will complement and support our overall mission to provide a one-supplier interface to our customers in the area of telematics,” said Jan Hellaker, president and chief executive officer of WirelessCar.
The new organization will be headed by Michael Sena, a telematics and navigation expert. Most recently he was lead project manager for Volvo’s implementation of its European service infrastructure for the Volvo On Call telematics system.
Telia AB, L.M. Ericsson and Volvo formed WirelessCar in March of last year. The company established the WirelessCar Universal Telematics Network in hopes of eliminating the problems associated with communicating across and designing equipment for multiple technologies.
