Cingular Interactive plans network enhancements

WOODBRIDGE, N.J.-Cingular Interactive introduced Operation Platinum Standard, a $50 million program designed to enhance the company’s nationwide wireless data network. The plan includes introducing two software revisions to double switching capacity; deploying at least six additional sub-networks to increase efficiency and capacity; commissioning 300 new base stations in key areas; and providing key customers with multiple connections to the network to more effectively distribute traffic.

“This strategic effort is two-pronged-to build capacity within the overall network as well as increase coverage in major metropolitan areas to meet our customers’ wireless data communications requirements,” said William Hogg, chief technical officer for Cingular Interactive.
