ERICSSON TO SUPPLY WLL NETWORK TO BRAZIL’S MIRROR

STOCKHOLM-Anatel, the Brazilian telecom regulatory agency, awarded Mirror S.A. of Brazil and L.M. Ericsson a $200 million wireless access equipment contract for what Ericsson said is the largest planned wireless local loop deployment in Latin America.

The cdmaOne (Code Division Multiple Access) network will help Mirror fulfill its commitments to Anatel by relieving demand for basic telecommunications services in Brazil.

The contract includes Ericsson’s 1900 MHz 1106 Compact radio base stations, CMS 11 base station controllers and services, including network design, deployment and training.

Ericsson said it will begin deployment immediately in the east, north and northeast regions of Brazil, including Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Salvador.
