BUCHAREST, Romania-Communications company Socintech, Russia’s distributor for Uniden, is aggressively involved in establishing an 800 MHz trunked radio communications network in Moscow.
According to Ilya Frez, Socintech’s marketing director, six Uniden base stations were installed in the metropolitan area during the first stage of construction. The trunking network, already commercial, currently covers the entire area of Moscow and the suburbs.
“It’s exciting to play a part in the rapidly evolving markets in modern Russia. A decade ago, this would not have been happening,” remarked Jon Osler, Uniden PRC international sales manager.
Socintech and its subsidiary Regiontrunk have trunking licenses in 10 Russian regions. In June 1997, two base stations for a commercial ESAS network were commissioned in the Vologda region.
The Russian company is also handling Uniden supplies for other operators. Currently, radio operators from another 11 Russian regions are planning to buy Uniden equipment from Socintech.
