Coherent

The Coherent original equipment manufacturer division of Tellabs launched a complete design verification kit for its CEC-128 Integrated Echo Canceller multichip module. The kit consists of a CEC-128 plug-in module and a CD with full operating software, application notes and data book. Vital Telecom

Vital Telecom introduced the Vital T1 Probe, which classifies T1 traffic as voice, silence or one of 13 different data types. The information is then summarized in both a simple and comprehensive graphical format, and in Microsoft Access and Excel accessible data base files. Hark Systems

Hark Systems Inc. announced the availability of the Internet Paging Gateway, the TNPP Router with Internet Gateway and custom Web pages for Internet access. The Internet Paging Gateway allows paging operators to exchange paging traffic between the Internet and a TNPP network. This product allows carriers or resellers to have an Internet presence for delivery of alphanumeric paging traffic. It can be customized for a carrier’s particular requirements, up to 32 ports, and supports TNPP, SNPP, SMTP, TAP and TCP/IP. Safetalk Hands Free now is available from Innovative Wireless Products. Safetalk Hands Free installs in a cigarette lighter and doubles as a plug-in charger. Andrew

Andrew Corp. debuted the TMA 1900-DD Tower Mounted Amplifier System, which increases the sensitivity of personal communications services base stations. It consists of a tower mounted amplifier, amplifier interface unit and a system status panel. The TMA is available in a low-noise version, giving sensitivity performance with a 1.8 dB noise figure, and a standard version, which maintains sensitivity with a 2.2 dB noise figure. Antennas America Inc. introduced the F800 and F900 antenna systems to operate on Cellular Digital Packet Data; cellular; Ardis and BellSouth Wireless Data L.P.; Global System for Mobile communications 900; and Industrial, Scientific, Medical band wireless networks. The F800 and F900 were designed specifically for these new applications. Typical installations for the F800 and F900 include the backs of laptop computers, interior vehicle molding and heavy equipment or hardware that does now allow for installation of a typical whip design. Palm Computing

Palm Computing Inc. announced the Palm IIIe connected organizer. The Palm IIIe organizer’s 2 megabits of memory can store 6,000 addresses, five years of appointments, 1,500 task items and 200 e-mail messages. It features version 3.1 Palm OSO software and ships with the PalmDesktop software. The Palm IIIe organizer also features infrared beaming for sharing information wirelessly. It runs on two AAA batteries and is priced at $229.

Palm Computing also introduced the PalmConnect USB Kit, designed to help users connect HotSync cradles and cables to PCs, laptops and Apple USB-equipped systems. The kit, expected to be available in August, is priced at $40. www.palm.com.

Electrofuel

Electrofuel Inc. announced the Lithium Ion SuperPolymer battery, which has an energy density of 470 Wh/liter and 183 Wh/kilogram, almost doubling the previous endurance records of rechargeable batteries. With the SuperPolymer battery, laptop computers will run 15 or more hours on a fully charged battery. The battery also has a market in cellular phones, telecommunications, global positioning systems, defense and portable medical devices, as well as a long-term future in electric cars and bicycles and alternative energy businesses such as solar and wind energy storage, said the company. Mobeo

Mobeo Inc. introduced an advanced version of its flagship F/X Alert service, adding new interactive capabilities. The F/X Alert II, as it is called, uses Mobeo’s new proprietary software platform-the f/xtra. It adds a built-in zoom capability to more closely view the information sent, as well as advanced personal information management features. Tektronix

Tektronix Inc. revealed the R3132/R3132N and R3162 spectrum analyzers for wireless, radio-frequency and television production test applications. The instrument’s enhanced GPIB interface increases throughput and provides fast transfer of raw data. The models also deliver a very high screen update of 20 traces per second. Standard features include GPIB, RS-232 and parallel printer interfaces; a built-in 3.5-inch floppy disk drive; and a high-definition color display with VGA output connector. All three models deliver accuracy of plus or minus 1.5 dB and phase noise of minus 100 dBc. The R3132/R3132N analyzers are priced starting at $12,750, and the R3162 starts at $17,950.
