SIEMENS BUYS INTERNET ROUTING CO.

HANNOVER, Germany-Siemens Information and Communications announced it will acquire
Internet specialist Redstone Communications based in Westford, Mass.

Redstone develops next-generation routing
technology designed to address service provider challenges at the customer entry point into networks, said
Siemens.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Dr. Volker Jung, who is responsible for Siemens’
Information and Communications division on the company’s corporate executive committee, said the acquisition
follows Siemens’ “pearl necklace” strategy of buying specialized know-how rather than spending billions in
major acquisitions.
