FCC PULLS PRIVATE WIRELESS AUCTION ITEM FROM AGENDA

WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission last week pulled an item from the
public meeting agenda that was expected to propose the auction of private wireless spectrum.

The proposed rules,
implementing the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, are expected to be adopted by the FCC in a few days, said FCC
officials. Indeed, if the FCC meeting had been scheduled for three days later, the item would be ready for a vote, said
Paul Misener, chief of staff to FCC Commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth. The item was “not ready for prime
time … areas need to be cleared up but (these areas) are not controversial,” Misener said.
