SILVERLAKE’S NEWEST SOFTWARE IS ADDED TO AIRSOURCE FAMILY

Silverlake Communications Inc. has introduced two products to its Airsource line of paging software.

The Calabasas, Calif., company now provides a wireless/personal communications services development tool for developers, engineers, network administrators and webmasters called AirSource Monitor, along with the AirSource E-Mail Gateway, a program that converts a company’s existing e-mail system into a wireless e-mail gateway.

The software products also are part of a newly launched suite of Airsource software called the Airsource Business Suite, wireless/PCS software designed specifically for medium to large organizations.

The Airsource Monitor allows management information system professionals to wirelessly enable almost any firmware, hardware or software application, said the company. The product is designed to regulate a selected directory or directories on a network for new files by dropping their information into the file.

The Airsource Monitor grabs the information, marks it as having been read, launches the information out via modem to the wireless device and places a result code for the message that is sent back into a second directory for the originating application to monitor the success of messages sent, according to Silverlake.

“The Airsource E-mail Gateway is the first wireless program designed to convert an existing local area or wide area e-mail platform into a wireless gateway for alphanumeric pagers and PCS devices that support alphanumeric paging,” said Alan Gould, director of business development for Silverlake.
