CORSAIR TO DEVELOP TDMA FRAUD DEVICE

PALO ALTO, Calif.-Corsair Communications Inc. said it is working to develop radiofrequency fingerprinting for Interim Standard 136-based Time Division Multiple Access digital cellular phones.

The company said its PhonePrint platform for analog systems has already been deployed in 20 markets.

“Going forward, we want to protect the next generation of phones,” said Donald R. Oestreicher, vice president of engineering for Corsair.

“The cellular industry has recently had great success using multiple tools to detect and prevent fraud. As digital dual-mode phones become more widely accepted, PhonePrint will be available as a complement to digital authentication.”

Oestreicher commented that PhonePrint is adaptable to digital technology and the company’s RF engineers are familiar with digital signals.
