CORSAIR ENTERS FRAUD CONTRACT WITH SOUTHWESTERN BELL MOBILE

PALO ALTO, Calif.-Corsair Communications Inc. signed a contract to install its PhonePrint cellular fraud prevention system in Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems’ Texas markets.

Corsair will install the system in the Dallas, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Laredo and Rio Grande valley markets during the first quarter.

PhonePrint uses radio frequency fingerprinting to detect and disconnect fraudulent calls.

“PhonePrint is performing very well in some of the most visible markets in the country,” said Mary Ann Byrnes, president and chief executive officer of Corsair. “Fraud has been cut by as much as 90 percent where PhonePrint is installed, which has led to rapid expansion of the PhonePrint network. That has been Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems’ experience where it has deployed RF fingerprinting, most notably in Chicago.”

The company also announced it has signed a letter of intent to deploy the PhonePrint system in BellSouth Cellular Corp.’s Atlanta and southern Florida markets.

Corsair already has deployed the system in BellSouth’s markets in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In addition, Los Angeles Cellular Telephone Co., a partnership between BellSouth and AT&T Wireless Services Inc., installed PhonePrint earlier this year.

“Expanding our deployment with BellSouth Cellular Corp. is a significant step forward for us, because their leadership position in the industry will certainly drive further expansion for our system,” said Byrnes.
