COPENHAGEN, Denmark-Denmark’s national telecom agency plans to issue invitations to bid for personal communications licenses at 1.8 GHz, reported the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen.
The official tender is scheduled for July 1 after legislation is implemented regarding a reformation in Denmark’s telecommunications market.
A draft of the legislation, which is intended to specify telecom market and operating conditions, was scheduled to be submitted to parliament earlier this month. In the meantime, Denmark’s NTA plans to issue provisional licenses.
The government will not specify the number of licenses being offered, but said spectrum limits the total to five nationwide operators.
The bidding is open to foreign entities and preferences will not be granted to existing operators, the Embassy added.
