Glenayre Technologies Inc. has appointed Bill Edwards vice president of sales and marketing for the Voice Systems Division. Edwards will be responsible for developing a worldwide sales and marketing plan for the division, which sells voice processing products in the wireless communications marketplace. Clients will include paging carriers, telephone companies, cellular operators and government agencies around the world responsible for providing communications services in their countries. Prior to joining Glenayre, Edwards was vice president of sales in the Enhanced Services Group of Centigram, a voice processing products company based in San Jose, Calif.

Michael Houghton, assistant vice president for news media relations for the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, announced he will resign effective Jan. 31 to open a new international public relations consulting firm called Communicreate, which will be based in Alexandria, Va. Houghton has managed public relations and advertising projects for the telecommunications industry in the United States, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific region. He joined CTIA in January 1993 and served as the association’s primary contact with the news media. Prior to joining CTIA, Houghton was director of international corporate relations and advertising for Bell Atlantic Corp.

Paging Partners Corp. has named Denise Specht chief operating officer. Specht served as general manager of the company since its inception in August 1990. She was promoted to vice president of operations and secretary when Paging Partners went public in early 1994.

Motorola Inc. appointed Jack Finlayson corporate vice president and general manager of its Pan American Wireless Infrastructure Division. Finlayson left AT&T Corp. in 1994 to join Motorola as vice president and general manager of sales for the Pan American Marketing Division of Motorola’s Cellular Infrastructure Group. Finlayson’s responsibilities include sales, design, engineering and installation of cellular infrastructure equipment, fixed wireless products and Motorola’s personal communications systems for Pan America.

Barry Fromberg has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Paging Network International Inc., Paging Network Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary. Fromberg previously served as PageNet’s senior vice president and chief financial officer. Fromberg will remain an officer of the parent company.
