Huawei shows off MediaPad tablet

Chinese firm Huawei offered the world a sneak peek at its upcoming MediaPad tablet, which the firm says is its “smartest, smallest and lightest tablet ever.”

Releasing a video on YouTube, Huawei showed off the slick looking 7-inch device, though next to nothing was revealed about its specs.

It’s a fair bet to say that the MediaPad will be running Android, although what version remains to be seen. Price is also a big unknown, and potentially a factor that could work well in Huawei’s favor if the company takes a page out of its smartphone book and prices its tablet aggressively towards the mid to low end of the market.

With all the big brands focusing around the $500 price point, Huawei could steal a significant amount of market share by coming in that little bit lower than the competition.
