Bandspeed, Open Interface launch WLAN product

AUSTIN, Texas—Broadband technology company Bandspeed Inc. and Bluetooth protocol stack provider Open Interface North America announced a new product that combines Bandspeed’s AFH HubMaster with Open Interface’s BlueMagic AFH protocol stack.

According to the companies, the new product leverages Adaptive Frequency Hopping technology to allow Bluetooth-enabled devices to coexist with Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs).

“A leading barrier to widespread adoption of Bluetooth is its inability to coexist with wireless LANs because of signal interference,” explained Michael Luther, Bandspeed’s chief executive officer. The companies are scheduled to demonstrate the joint solution at the Bluetooth Developers Conference, which begins December 11 in San Francisco.
