Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Nokia Siemens, Ericsson, Nortel and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

Cellular
–Slovenia: T-2 Slovenia has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to provide an Internet High Speed Packet Access solution that will allow the Internet and IPTV carrier to offer high-speed mobile service. Nokia Siemens will set up a complete 3G network based on W-CDMA technology for T-2.
–Switzerland: L.M. Ericsson said it won a contract with Swisscom to provide an HSPA solution to upgrade the carrier’s existing W-CDMA/HSPA network.

WiMAX

–United States: Redline Communications Group said One Ring Networks has chosen its 3.65 GHz RedMAX products for a WiMAX network buildout in Atlanta.

Miscellaneous

–Taiwan: Taiwan Mobile Co. Ltd. has deployed Axerra Networks‘ Pseudo-Wire solution in its radio access network for backhaul of UMTS and GSM voice and data traffic. The solution uses Carrier Ethernet as an alternative to TDM backhaul, said the company.
–United States: Nortel Networks said it signed a contract with Clearwire to deliver a complete carrier VoIP solution for the carrier’s residential VoIP service.
