Nexage scores funds for mobile TV offering

BELLEVUE, Wash.—Nexage Inc., which provides wireless multimedia software and services, said it closed its first round of funding for its mobile TV platform venture.

Funding came from John Ostrem, founder of China MobileSoft, a Linux-based mobile software company that was acquired last year by PalmSource Inc.

Terms of the funding were not disclosed.

Nexage is focused on mobile video, multimedia and mobile payment technologies and solutions. The company’s products include PhoneCast, a mobile video solution that allows carriers to offer streaming video and mobile TV services, and MyCorner TV, an off-portal mobile TV service offering live TV, events and video on demand directly to customers.

The company announced its first customer deals for its PhoneCast ASP hosted mobile TV and video service in May with Wireless TV & Studios and Universal Theater Inc.

In other news, Nexage said it is moving its headquarters to San Franciso from Seattle. The company said it also plans to expand its engineering team.
